APPLYING MODERN TECHNOLOGY TO CURRENT ISSUES!
SUCCESSFULLY CHANGING LONG HELD OPINIONS AGAINST WARMING HIVES, WITH NEW TECHNOLOGY! Customers consistently report STRONGER, more HEALTHY colonies in Spring, and with REDUCED HONEY CONSUMPTION!
OFTEN PAYS FOR ITSELF - SEVERAL TIMES OVER - IN ONE YEAR!!!
A COLONY SAVED - IS A $100 PACKAGE NOT PURCHASED!
JUST 16 POUNDS OF HONEY NOT CONSUMED - PAYS FOR THE WARMBEES In-Hive Warmer!
Every calorie equivalent of heat provided, is a colorie not needing to be consumed by the bees!
STRONGER COLONIES IN SPRING, TRANSLATES TO MORE HONEY GATHERING CAPACITY!
MORE HONEY, LESS CONSUMED, LOWER WINTER LOSSES!!! THE MATH IS CLEAR!
WARMBEES In-Hive Warmers are GOOD FOR HONEYBEES!
WARMBEES IN-HIVE WARMER IS NOT just a heating element... IT IS a complete HIGH-TECH, CUSTOM, CRITICALLY- CONTROLLED WARMING SYSTEM designed to be placed directly inside the beehive, IN THE COLONY LIVING SPACE! THEY WILL MOVE TO THE WARMER!
HOW ARE WE DOING? LET'S ASK THE BEES!
BROOD PATCH ON FRAME ADJACENT TO WARMER - MID FEBRUARY 2014! (Utah 6a)
Since research revealed that Alaska and other Northern climates often cannot overwinter honeybees due to extreme Winter Climates (-60 deg (F)) - It has been our goal to make design changes to better support these extreme climates! Last year 2014, we succeeded in getting a hive in Alaska to survive -25 (F), but it later died due to much lower temperatures.
Recent design changes not only raise the capacity and reliability of the standard Warmbees In-Hive Warmer, to better meet these extremes, but also now allows for the addition of a second warmer element board, placed 2 or 3 frames away from the main warmer, to double the capacity and distribution of heat. We will be testing this new configuration this year in Alaska. Add-On warmer board is available for $37.95 plus SH, to double the capacity of our newest model for those extreme environments.
HERE'S THE PROOF!
BASEBALL SIZE CLUSTER in top super, HAPPY TO BE HERE!
Followup - This baseball size colony survived until mid April 2015 - The queen was last to die after failing to lay for other reasons.
BEES MOVE CLUSTERS TO WARMERS! Followup - This second colony (entered winter as softball size cluster - approximately 1 frame) survived the entire winter and is still alive today Aug 11 2015!!!
This third (half baseball size cluster at start) Probably won't survive for other reasons... but cold won't be the reason! SAME HIVE FROM ABOVE (FIRST) VIDEO. With cluster so small and in top super, and since near freezing on the day when installed, I placed the warmer in box, with honey and pollen, below the cluster... Within a week, the small cluster ACTUALLY MOVED DOWN TO SURROUND THIS WARMER!!!
THAT IS BEE TALK FOR - "Sisters - that super nice man thing just made it possible for us to survive! So the celebration has been scheduled for one week from today - DOWNSTAIRS BY THAT WARM THINGY! BEE THERE OR BEE COLD!"
QUEEN'S ORDERS! ... LETS GET BBZZZZZZZZZZZZYYY
Now bring me a POLLEN MOCHA LATTE!
COLD SNAP! STILL ALIVE AFTER (-)15 WINDCHILL OVERNIGHT! No Insulation or Windbreaks! (Not recommended) THANKS TO WARMBEES IN-HIVE WARMERS!
FOLLOWUP Feb 4, 2015 after adding 1" Styrofoam after losing some bees at the recent week long cold-snap that dipped to Zero(F) with wind gusts to 60 mph.
The small baseball size cluster depicted in Video 1, remained alive until 2nd week in April, at which point the handful of bees left, were no longer able to sustain the queen. She laid eggs, but the small number of bees sadly did not properly nurse them.
The small Softball size cluster depicted in Video #2 survived the entire winter. I added a few hundred bees from a new package in 3rd week of April, and this colony began to thrive and is now nearly a full Langstroth box of bees Aug 31, 2015!
WARMBEES IN-HIVE WARMER - Has SUCCESSFULLY rescued dying hives!
WARMBEES IN-HIVE WARMER - Has SUCCESSFULLY kept multiple small NUC's alive during WINTER!
WARMBEES IN-HIVE WARMER - Has SUCCESSFULLY extended brood rearing - in one case, apparently, ALL WINTER!
SUCCESSFULLY creating NUC's from single frame of bees with eggs!
SUCCESSFULLY Overwintering colonies too small to survive on their own!
Making it possible to OverWinter bees in Norther Extreme Climates when used in conjunction with insulation!
Hives with WARMBEES In-Hive Warmers, CONSISTENTLY come through Spring stronger than average!
Energy provided by WARMBEES In-Hive Warmers does NOT require calories burned by bees consuming honey!!!
DISCLAIMER: The WARMBEES In-Hive warmer is provided as a tool to allow beekeepers another option to try and assist weak beehive colonies in surviving winter climates, as well as strong colonies to survive EXTREME winter climates like Alaska. WARMBEES.COM assumes NO LIABILITY for lost colonies, nor does WARMBEES or its products, guarantee survival, or fitness for any specific application! This product must be used in concert with other knowledge, methods and/or products, such as insulation, to aid in providing an environment that can make possible, the survival of stressed honey bees during winter climates! This product may not provide enough heat in an un-insulated hive, to ensure survival in extreme climates! Providing heat, without also increasing insulation and moisture in a hive, may not result in survival of the colony. While a good faith effort has been made to make this product safe for bees and humans, with OVERTEMP CONTROL and Thermal FUZE, this product has not yet been tested by Underwriter Laboratories (UL) or any other safety agencies! Use at your own risk OUTDOORS away from structures!
There are no hazardous electrical voltages or currents outside of the DC power supply. The power supply IS UL approved. Temperatures at the heating element will not typically exceed 150 degrees under normal operation.
